Rep. Marshall: We No Longer Bend the Knee to Thugs.
On Thursday, January 2, 2019, U.S. President Donald J. Trump announced an American air strike occurring outside of Baghdad’s international airport had targeted and killed General Qassam Soleimani, terrorist and head of Iran’s Quds Force. The strike was to prevent Soleimani’s plans for imminent additional attacks following an attack early Tuesday on the U.S. Embassy compound in Baghdad, Iraq, as well as in retaliation for the deaths of hundreds of Americans at the hands of Soleimani over several decades. Also killed was Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy commander of Iranian-backed militia the Popular Mobilization Forces. Congressman Roger Marshall, M.D., issued a statement today in response:
“President Trump was completely and totally justified in carrying out this strike against General Soleimani, a terrorist and evil butcher responsible for the deaths of literally hundreds of Americans. This President is a decisive leader who puts America’s interests and her people first, not last. Instead of billions in cash payments, this administration will not bend the knee to thugs. Congratulations and thank you for a job well done to U.S. military personnel and the U.S. leadership team. America is safer today than yesterday.”
