WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Roger Marshall, M.D., voted NO on a resolution to restrict the authority of President Donald J. Trump to exercise his military power as Commander in Chief. Following the vote, Congressman Marshall issued a statement in response:

“For Kansans, it is pure and simple common sense that the American president protect our country and her people from imminent foreign threats that would do us harm. If you are a known terrorist who has brutally murdered hundreds of our soldiers and is actively planning to kill more Americans, our leaders have the authority to stop that threat,” said Dr. Marshall. “By killing Soleimani, President Trump took decisive action to protect Americans and rid the world of an evil terrorist who was actively planning more death and destruction. The President and his advisors made a calculated decision to swiftly de-escalate a tense situation and now Iran appears to be standing down. We are all safer today because of President Trump’s decision.”
