Marshall Says No to Partisan Bill That Fails to Support Kansans
WASHINGTON - Today the House voted on the Heroes Act 2.0, which simply recycles the same Democrat wish list that was overwhelmingly rejected by the White House and Republicans and continues to ignore the true needs of the American people and business owners. U.S. Congressman Roger Marshall, M.D. voted NO on the legislation and offered the following statement:
“Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats again rebuffed attempts by Republicans and the Administration to find a reasonable compromise. Instead they remain determined to use this pandemic to promote their socialist agenda with no pet project or left-wing agenda item left behind, many of which have nothing to do with COVID-19,” said Rep. Marshall “The Heroes Act 2.0 would also provide stimulus checks to illegal immigrants, taxpayer dollars for Planned Parenthood, mandates the release of an unknown number of federal prisoners and provides even less funding for our brave law enforcement officers. These aren’t solutions that help Kansans - this bill is just more government hand-outs and questionable take-overs by bureaucrats in the swamp.
I stand with my fellow Republicans in our commitment to supporting families, businesses owners and our communities as they continue to work toward reopening. Leader McConnell has offered legislation that would provide much-needed liability protections for our businesses, allow for more Paycheck Protection Program funding for struggling small businesses, fund the continued development of therapeutics and vaccine development and provide more testing to ensure the safety of our children, elderly and high-risk populations without adding unnecessary federal debt.
Democrats aren’t concerned about Kansans because if they were, they would abandon their radical agendas and come to the negotiating table. Instead they want to hold our elections, school children and small business owners hostage to play political games.”
