Marshall Applauds Additional Support for Livestock Investigation
WASHINGTON - President Trump has instructed the Department of Justice to investigate the startling differences between livestock sale prices and boxed beef prices and whether or not anti-trust laws had been violated.
“I’ve asked them to take a very serious look into it, because it shouldn’t be happening this way,” President Trump said.
Rep. Marshall, along with a bipartisan group of his colleagues, sent a letter to USDA Sec. Perdue last week requesting the findings of the beef pricing investigation already underway at the USDA.
“I hear from cattlemen every day who are desperate about the future of their operation and the viability of the U.S. beef industry,” said Rep. Marshall. “I applaud President Trump as I did when Secretary Perdue made his announcement to expand the investigation back in March. Something is off, and we need to get to the bottom of it.”
